Laying of the foundation stone for Portela de Azóia Primary School

Yesterday saw the laying of the foundation stone for the Portela de Azóia Primary School, in the parish of Santa Iria de Azóia. The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Loures, Ricardo Leão, the deputy mayor of Loures, Sónia Paixão, the mayor of the parish of Santa Iria de Azóia, São João da Talha and Bobadela, Nuno Leitão, the director of the Santa Iria de Azóia School Group, Ivo Cardoso, and the Regional Education Delegate for Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, Pedro Florêncio.

This project will have capacity for 264 students, and the new building will have two floors: the ground floor will have three kindergarten classrooms for 72 children, two ATL classrooms, an assistants’ room, toilets, reception, kitchen, canteen for 144 users and an outdoor play area and playground for kindergarten students.

On the first floor, there are eight classrooms dedicated to primary education, for 192 students, with a teachers’ room, meeting room, four support rooms, storage, toilets, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a library and a children’s play area for primary school students.

The patio will also include a covered playing field with benches, garden areas and access for loading and unloading materials and food.
