Launch of the UC BIOMED building work

Last Monday, the 25th, the launch of the work on the UC BIOMED building took place, which will house the Multidisciplinary Institute of Aging (MIA-Portugal) and other scientific research laboratories of the University of Coimbra.

The presentation of the project – in the square adjacent to the land where the UC Biomed building will be built, included interventions by the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and the Dean of UC, Amílcar Hawk.

The UC BIOMED building, with a total gross area of ​​12,427 m2, will have research laboratories, technological research support platforms and the vivarium of the University of Coimbra installed. Among the projects it will host, the MIA-Portugal stands out, the first center of reference in the study of aging in southern Europe.

This contract will be carried out by Teixeira, Pinto & Soares, SA and has an investment of almost 20 million euros.
