The Carcavelos Health Center is a Health Unit associated with a new Public Space that is open, dynamic and inclusive, a catalyst for social life designed for the local population, users and employees. This project has four services: Family Health Unit (USF Carcavelos), URAP, Drug Addict Treatment Team and Psychiatry Service for Children and Adults.
The various services are developed around a Square/Garden where numerous recreational activities can be carried out, as it includes children’s equipment, a physical exercise station, a cafeteria, numerous benches and a lawn area.
The building’s ecological footprint is reduced through bioclimatic strategies: a large area of photovoltaic panels on the roofs for self-consumption of clean electricity; natural ventilation; green areas with mostly indigenous species and low water consumption that protect the building from solar radiation and purify the air; electricity saving strategies (time control, LED lamps, motion and light sensors); canopies and setback of windows relative to the façade plane to protect against solar radiation.
